VPECC 2020 will be held on Thursday the 25th of June 2020 in Melbourne and tickets are now on sale here!

Based on feedback from previous courses we've now moved venues- the course is now held at the Monash Teaching Rooms at the Alfred Centre with support from the Alfred Course Group.
VPECC provides prospective candidates for the CICM primary examination with a 1- day course to develop their exam and study techniques. Whilst the course is specifically targeted at CICM trainees who are sitting or intending to sit their primary examination within the next 6 months, participants who are 6 -12 months out from the exam will also gain significant benefits.

Targeted course lectures aim to offer insights and useful tips into the exam process and are delivered by primary examiners as well as recently successful candidates.

The written component of the course includes  a short pre-course exam, this allows our faculty to gauge prior learning to better tailor the course on the day. During the course there are small group workshops on techniques to help answer difficult exam questions, followed by a one hour practice exam in the afternoon.  The aim is to provide candidates with exam techniques and focused timely feedback.

The viva component of the course seeks to provide participants with tutorials on how to prepare for this part of the exam, techniques to assist with the viva process and viva practice under exam-like conditions.

For both the written and viva components of the exam a vital skill is the ability to draw a number of graphs quickly, legibly and accurately. This is therefore also a key component of the course integrated throughout the various sessions.

Useful Resources page and the draft program for the course.

Given the detailed syllabus provided by CICM, the course does not aim to comprehensively cover the knowledge base for the exam. Rather, the aim of the course is to improve candidates' likelihood of passing the exam, by focusing on study techniques, exam preparedness, topics of difficulty, as well as written and viva exam skills.

The VPECC team consists of primary examiners, fellows and advanced trainees of CICM based in Melbourne with expertise and enthusiasm for trainee development and education.
